Caliban oh, Caliban!

In 2015 and early 2016 we offered a series of professional development sessions at a couple of schools in Lawrence, MA. The sessions were about racial identity and how that relates to their work. We began one of the sessions with this video where we analyzed the first indigenous person in Western literary imagination: Caliban in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. We looked at how he was represented by the Western imagination and made some modern day connections.
